Fueling & Refueling Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
Full-on-the-Lake Rule
- Departure: Boats are normally dispatched with a full tank.
- If dispatched less than full: Starting fuel level is confirmed on the gauge before departure, and usage is tracked from that starting mark using 1/8-tank increments.
- Return: You must refuel at a marina gas dock before return and provide a matching fuel receipt, bringing fuel back to full (or to the verified starting level when dispatched less than full).
Captain's Call Exception
On high-traffic days, if marina fuel lines are too busy, the captain on duty may waive self-refueling. In that case, or if a boat is returned below required level without a receipt, OKGN applies a gauge-based refueling charge.
Gauge-Based Refueling Charge
- Flat rate: $2.35 per litre based on dashboard gauge level.
- No hidden fees: No additional service or refueling charges beyond the flat rate.
- Rounding: Charges are rounded up to the next 1/8 tank to account for gauge variance and operating overhead.
- Settlement: Gauge-based fuel charges must be paid on-site before the rental is closed.
- On-dock payment methods: Credit card, Interac e-Transfer, or cash.
Flat-Rate Refueling Grid (Per 1/8 Tank Empty)
- 2012 Malibu Wakesetter (340 Monsoon): 20.8 L per 1/8, $48.88 per 1/8.
- 2005 Malibu iRide (320 Monsoon): 16.6 L per 1/8, $39.01 per 1/8.
- 2022 Sun Tracker Party Barge (90 HP Mercury CT): 15.2 L per 1/8, $35.72 per 1/8.
Mandatory Fueling Safety Protocols
- Engine off and electrical switches/accessories off before fueling.
- All passengers and non-essential staff off the vessel during fueling.
- No smoking, vaping, or open flames near fuel dock or vessel.
- Keep metal-to-metal contact between nozzle and fill pipe while fueling.
- Do not top off after auto-stop; leave room for thermal expansion.
- Use spill-prevention absorbent material around nozzle to catch drips.
Post-Fueling Blower Rule
- After fueling and cap securement, inspect bilge/engine compartment for fumes or leaks.
- Run bilge blower for a minimum of 4 minutes before engine start.
