Boat rental questions, answered.
Where do OKGN Boat Rentals charters launch?
We are based in Kelowna, BC and run all of our charters on Okanagan Lake. We launch from the Kelowna area and can plan a route around the spots you want to see, like calm morning water for wakesurfing, swim coves, or a scenic cruise.
Do I need a Pleasure Craft Operator Card to rent a boat?
No. Every OKGN rental includes a commercially licensed SVOP (Small Vessel Operator Proficiency) captain. The captain operates the boat, so you and your guests never need a Pleasure Craft Operator Card. Just step aboard, relax, and enjoy the day on the water.
What is included in a charter?
Your rental includes the boat, a commercially licensed OKGN-approved captain, safety gear, and watersports equipment. Wakeboard, wakesurf board and life jackets are available, and you are welcome to bring food, beverages and your favorite playlist. We launch from the Cook Rd public boat launch in Kelowna.
How many people can come on the boat?
Our 22ft Malibu Wakesetter seats up to 12 guests, our Sun Tracker Party Barge seats up to 9 guests, and our 22ft Malibu Bowrider seats up to 9 guests. We host families, birthday and bachelorette groups, corporate outings and more.
What watersports can we do?
Our Malibu wake boats are set up for wakesurfing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, and more. While the Sun Tracker Party Barge is best for relaxed cruising, swimming, and social lake days. Our captains are happy to coach first-timers and help everyone in the group get comfortable on the water.
How do I book a boat rental in Kelowna?
Book online and confirm instantly right from our website. Just pick your date and time slot, then pay securely to lock it in. For a custom booking, pick your date and email us. Our customer service team will get back to you as soon as possible to plan your perfect day on the water. For a quicker response, call or text us at +1 (250) 863-7828.
How do I pay for my boat rental?
Full payment, meaning the whole rental amount, is required at the time of booking to secure your date, time, and spot. You can pay by cash or Interac e-Transfer (to info@okgnboatrentals.ca), and we also accept all major credit cards online or by phone. Prices are in CAD, and GST and PST apply.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
Cancel more than 2 weeks (14 days) before your departure date and you receive a full refund of your payment. Cancellations within 14 days of departure forfeit a $150 booking fee, and the remainder of your payment is refunded. If OKGN cancels for unsafe weather, you can choose a full refund or a $190 rental credit. If we cancel due to a booking error on our end, you can choose a full refund or a $200 credit. Weather calls are made live at the dock, not from forecasts. Full details are on our cancellation policy page.
When is the boating season on Okanagan Lake?
Our charters run through the warm Okanagan spring and summer, typically April through September, with the calmest water usually in the morning. We are open 9am to 9pm daily.
What safety rules apply before we leave the dock?
All trips are subject to weather, lake conditions, guest capacity, and required safety equipment. Your OKGN captain runs a safety briefing before departure and has final authority over the boat for the safety of everyone on board. Anyone who cannot swim is provided with an approved life jacket to wear before boarding.
